How have Noah’s Ark orders impacted your life?
If I didn’t have this work, my life would not be the same. I’ve been working for Noah’s Ark for the past 12 years. It’s a well known truth that we get good prices for our work and this has helped me to build my workshop and house. 12 years ago, I was working in the same area but my income was very much hand-to-mouth and our living conditions were very primitive. Now I think I am middle class and this progress is due to hard work and partners like Noah’s Ark.
What are your dreams for the future?
I think I have achieved what I wanted, but I have a dream to train young, unemployed youth to make these kinds of crafts. That way, their minds will be focused rather than distracted by other things.
Where do you live?
I live in village Bhoor which is in Moradabad. Life here is good! We are in the city limits, so we get all the facilities. We have well-constructed housed and since 60 % of our village population is Muslim, the Muslim food is very common there. The school run by Noah’s Ark is very close and many of our village children go there for their education.
What was your life like growing up?
My father was a temporary worker in the railways who used to fix the tracks. I learned this work from him. I used to make grills and doors etc. for houses but that wasn’t a profitable business. That’s why I started making crafts 20 years back. We are Muslim and religion is our priority but not at the cost of human life and in our village we live very cordially with Hindus and participate in each others festivals and marriages with full heart.
